MURFREESBORO – West Bladen grad Clint Allen batted 3-5, drove in 2 runs and scored two as his Coker Cobras swept a non-conference double-header from Chowan Saturday by scores of 5-4 and 11-1.

Allen smacked a 2-run single through the middle in the sixth inning of the opener to stretch Coker’s lead to 5-1 and supply the eventual deciding runs. In the second inning, Allen’s sacrifice bunt moved Brooks Estrada into scoring position, and Estrada scored one out later.

In the nightcap, Allen drew a first-inning walk and scored the final run of a 5-run first-inning for the Cobras. In the fourth inning, the Bladenboro native belted a single to rightfield and raced home from second base on P. J. Musselman’s single.

Allen beat out an infield hit to third base in the fifth inning. The senior leftfielder was 1-2 at the plate in the opener and 2-3 for the second game.

In Wednesday’s 8-7 home victory for Coker over St. Andrews, Allen’s ninth inning sacrifice bunt moved the eventual winning run into scoring position.

Coker, now 3-0, will play another double-header Sunday at Chowan starting at noon.
