BLADENBORO – Gabe Moore’s 2-run single keyed a 3-run seventh inning that sealed a 5-1 non-conference baseball victory for Clinton over West Bladen Wednesday night.

Moore batted 3-3 with the 2 runs batted in to lead the Clinton attack. Teammate Reid Walters finished 2-4 at the plate with a double and an rbi, and Payson King singled and scored 3 runs.

King was hit by a pitch, and Walters doubled him home in the Dark Horse first inning for a 1-0 Clinton lead. King walked and eventually scored on a passed ball in the third inning to pad the lead to 2-0.

The Knights scored their run in the sixth. Junior Logan West belted a single to centerfield but was retired on junior Dawson Bryan’s fielder’s choice. Bryan advanced on a passed ball and raced home when senior Jeremy Pait ripped a single to left.

Seniors Jeremy Pait and Dalton Pait and juniors Braylon Williamson, West and Colby White connected for one hit each for the Knights. Jeremy Pait had an rbi, and Bryan scored a run.

Blake Smith pitched five 2-hit shutout innings for Clinton and struck out 6 batters. Moore allowed an unearned run on 3 hits and a walk in his 2 innings on the mound.
