Wyatt Holland passed for four touchdowns and Trey Gregory ran for 177 yards and two touchdowns Friday night as Midway routed Red Springs 49-22 in the Southeastern 2-A Conference football opener for both teams.

Angel Washington ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns for Red Springs (1-1, 0-1 Southeastern). The Red Devils were playing their first game since Aug. 20 because of COVID-19 protocols.

Holland has passed for 17 touchdowns and almost 1,000 yards this season for Midway (3-1, 1-0 Southeastern).

In Fairmont, Blake Smith tossed three touchdown passes as Clinton rolled to a 56-6 victory against the Golden Tornadoes.

The Dark Horses (3-0, 1-0 Southeastern) held a 42-0 halftime lead. The final two quarters were playing with a running clock.

Fairmont (0-4, 0-1 Southeastern) scored on the final play of the game on a run by Dacoaleon Austin.

The West Bladen at East Bladen game scheduled Friday was postponed because of COVID-19 protocols. It has been rescheduled for Monday at 7 p.m. at Lenon Fisher Stadium.
