East Bladen High SchoolRecord-setting East Bladen senior halfback Farrell Murchison has been named the Four County Conference Player of the Year and Eagle Coach Robby Priest has also been voted the league’s Coach of the Year. The awards were selected by a vote of the league’s eight coaches.

The awards are especially significant because the Four County also boasts Wallace-Rose Hill, the Class 1-AA State Champion, and Clinton, the Class 2-A State Runner-up. East Bladen, Clinton and Wallace-Rose Hill finished in a 3-way tie for the league championship.

Murchison carried 285 times this season for 2,491 yards and 38 total touchdowns as the Eagles posted a 10-3 record and reached the second round of the State Class 2-A Play-offs.

The 2,491 yards set an East Bladen record for rushing yardage in a season breaking former Appalachian State star Kevin Richardson’s previous record. For his career Farrell rushed 685 times for 5,700 yards and 73 touchdowns which are also the school records.

In his third season at the helm of the Eagles, Coach Priest’s club reached the second round of the NCHSAA Class 2-A play-offs for the second consecutive year. In his first season (2012) Priest’s Eagles advanced to the third round of the 2-A play-offs.

The Eagles have shared conference championships in two of his three seasons.The combined East Bladen record for Coach Priest’s three seasons is 26-13.
