bypassoverview-300x180The Colonial Pipeline Company has announced Colonial Pipeline No. 1 is back in operation. The bypass segment is now in place, connected and operational according to a release from the company. It is expected to take several days for fuel supplies to return to normal levels according to the company.

“Some markets served by Colonial Pipeline may experience, or continue to experience, intermittent service interruptions. Colonial continues to move as much gasoline, diesel and jet fuel as possible and will continue to do so as markets return to normal.”

Colonial Pipeline Company officials said more than 800 personnel have worked around the clock to effect repairs and restart the line.  The company is also continuing work on excavating the damaged section of line and perform a through investigation to determine the cause of the leak that occurred on September 9.

The company also noted that Environmental efforts have also taken place to contain the spilled fuel.
