With gas prices inching upward in Bladen County and surrounding areas, the Colonial Pipeline Company announced it could be as late as Tuesday before the pipeline which supplies gasoline and diesel fuel to the East coast resumes its normal operations. The company said on Sunday afternoon they are working to complete repairs to Colonial Pipelines 1 and 2 between Hebert and Houston.

In a release the company stated, “Colonial continues to operate from Lake Charles east. We continue to work expeditiously to complete final repairs to our facilities damaged by the storm, and to assess our lines and right of ways to ensure the integrity of our system between Houston and Hebert.”

Colonial’s Pipeline 1 transmits primarily gasoline and Pipeline 2 transmits primarily diesel fuel, according to the company. The system consists of 26 refineries of which 13 were located in Houston and Lake Charles, La. which were both impacted by flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

The release continues, “Colonial continues to ship as much gasoline and other refined products as available from Louisiana-based refineries and other refineries on the Colonial system east of Lake Charles, and will continue to do so as markets return to normal.”
