On Monday night, the Bladen County Board of Commissioners appointed Commissioner Arthur Bullock to serve on the Southeastern Community & Family Services, Inc. Board of Directors.
Southeastern Community & Family Services, Inc. oversees the Head Start program and the Community Services Block grant in Bladen County, according to Kim Clark, Director for the block grant. The group assists low income families and helps them in setting goals and obtaining education. Clark said they offer clients such services as tutoring for job placement exams and assistance in finding jobs.
The goal of the program is to serve 25 families in Bladen County. The program serves a seven county region with 325 clients total. The counties served include Hoke, Scotland, Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, Pender and Robeson counties.
In Bladen County the office is located in the basement of the Bladen County Courthouse. Mary Bellamy is the case manager and she is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
