The Bladen County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October as Bullying Prevention Awareness Month. Eastpointe’s Cheryl Harris was presented a proclamation by Bladen County Commissioners Chairman
“I’d just like to thank you for recognizing Bullying Prevention Awareness Month in October. We strive to bring out our signs and symptoms of bullying to the students, the schools, and the local community,” said Harris.
She shared some tips on bullying.
* Bullying often lowers self esteem;
* Bullying makes kids and teenagers feel unsafe;
* It prevents you from being who you want to be.
“It’s time to take a stand and put a stop to bullying. If a child is being bullied we want to make sure they speak up,” said Harris.
She added if a child feels uncomfortable with the actions of someone, they should tell a trusted adult.
Harris reminded that bullying can take place not only at school but also online.
Chairman Peterson read the proclamation aloud for those in attendance.
