SevenSealsAwardThe Bladen County Board of Commissioners was presented the Covenant of the  Seven Seals award by Darrell Page, and Lt. Col. Retired Roy Allen.

 

 

Page told the board that the award recognizes the board for their support for active duty personnel as well as guard and reservists.

 

 

” This award is most timely as today is D Day,” said Page.  He noted that many people had spent the day watching various events on television that are designed to mark D Day.

 

 

Page said that the board assures their citizen soldiers their jobs are secured by law as they train and perform their duties around the world.

 

“We want to make Bladen County a military friendly place to live and work,” said Page.

 

 

He said about half of support services in military are performed in the reserves

 

 

“Over the years, I can attest you have faithfully supported our citizen soldiers,” said Page.

 

In other business, the board appointed Terry Beard to the Lumber River Work Force Development Board and tabled an appointment to the Carvers Creek Fire District Committee.

 

*The board recognized Deloise Lucy for her retirement which is effective June 1. Romall Watson, Lucy’s Supervisor, accepted the plaque on her behalf.LucyRecognition

 

*The board scheduled a special meeting regarding the FY 2016-17 budget for Monday, June 13, at 6 p.m.

 

*The board approved a request from the Bladen County Board of Education regarding the utilization of their sales tax appropriation for technology projects and to replace floor tile/coverings. The total cost of all proposed projects is $145,785. To learn more about the proposed projects click here. The board approved the requests.

 

*Bladen County Department of Social Services Director Vickie Smith presented agreements for non-emergency Medicaid transportation. The board approved the agreements.
