The Bladen County Board of Commissioners met on Monday night and began the evening with a public hearing to receive comments from the public for the upcoming 2016-17 budget.

Bladen County Manager Greg Martin said that the board was seeking feedback from the community with regard to the budget and placed a survey in the newspaper. No one spoke at the hearing.

Next, the board recognized Bladen County Operations Manager Robert Mazur on his retirement from the county. He has worked for the county since 1987.

“It has been a pleasure working with each and every one of you,” said Mazur.

The board also recognized the East Bladen High School Lady Eagles basketball team for the 31-1 record setting season.

Following the recognitions, there was a reception held in their honor.

In other business, the board voted to give $500 to the Miss North Carolina contestants who visited the board earlier in the month.
