The 11th Annual Roger’s Wish Donation Mission, held Thursday at the Bladen County Library in Elizabethtown, concluded with remarkable success, thanks to the compassionate spirit of local residents. This year’s mission focused on gathering winter blankets and warm clothing for the homeless and those in need across southeastern North Carolina. Nearly 250 donations poured in from the community, offering essential warmth and comfort as winter approaches.

“It’s truly heartwarming to see the outpouring of support from our community,” shared Jeffrey Bryan, event organizer. “This mission wouldn’t be possible without the caring and generous hearts of everyone who contributed.”

Throughout the day, many donated items were distributed directly to local homeless individuals at the library. Additionally, members of the Bladen Baptist Association stepped in to extend the mission’s impact, collecting supplies for those affected by Hurricane Helene in the mountainous regions of North Carolina. This dual effort reflects the enduring spirit of Roger’s Wish, which has, since 2013, provided more than 1,500 essential items to those in need.

“Roger would be so proud of what his mission has become,” Bryan added. “He had such a generous heart, and it’s incredibly moving to see his legacy live on, year after year, helping those who need it most.”

Roger’s Wish began as the vision of Roger Theodore Grunder, who founded the mission with hopes of aiding the local homeless. Tragically, he lost his life in a car accident just three weeks after starting the initiative. In his honor, Roger’s family and the community have carried the mission forward, transforming it into a powerful tradition of giving and remembrance.

Bryan extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Bladen County Library for hosting the event and to Vertical Church for partnering with Roger’s Wish this year. “Thank you to everyone who donated, to the library staff for their support, and to our partners at Vertical Church. Your kindness and generosity make a real difference,” he expressed. “May God bless each one of you for helping keep Roger’s dream alive.”

As the 11th year concludes, Roger’s Wish continues to touch lives, embodying the compassion and resilience of a community that supports each other, season after season.
