Spread the love

When someone in the community is struggling, Bladen County residents often band together to show their support and to offer assistance.  Recently, the staff of Giorgios restaurant in Elizabethtown wanted to show their support for East Bladen Eagles Coach Robby Priest and his family by wearing shirts emblazoned with the words, “No One Fights Alone.”

The slogan on the shirts being worn is true for many in Bladen County — “No One Fights Alone” when it comes to fighting cancer. Priest is battling cancer and has had to miss work while receiving treatments.

A fundraiser is planned for Coach Priest on Saturday, April 7th, at the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church Activity Center from from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Plates cost $8 each and will consist of barbecue, baked beans, slaw, rolls and dessert. You can eat-in or take out.

There will also be a silent auction during the plate sale. Silent auction items can be bid on from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. when the bidding will close.

The proceeds from this and other fundraisers will be given to Priest and his family to help with medical expenses.

Some other recent activities the community has undertaken to assist Priest has been a T-shirt sale and a GoFundMe campaign was conducted by Shannon Meares.
