WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted 227-203 to pass the finalized version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1):
“This is truly a historic day. The House of Representatives just passed the finalized version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a transformational, job creating overhaul of our outdated and broken tax code. This is a tax cut for the Middle Class and the millions of hardworking Americans fighting to build a better life for themselves and their children.
“We are nearly doubling the standard deduction, increasing the Child Tax Credit and slashing tax rates so that all Americans can keep more of their hard-earned paychecks. After years of stagnation, it is time to get the American economy rolling again. And this tax cut will do just that.”
*The finalized Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will now be voted on by the Senate. Upon passing the Senate, the bill will be sent to President Trump to be signed into law.
