WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) issued the following statement regarding the opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem:
“Today, we celebrate the opening of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem. As Israel’s eternal, ancestral capital since the days of King David, I have always agreed with the late Jesse Helms that previous Administrations should have done this long ago,” said Congressman Pittenger.
“After years of empty promises, I commend President Trump’s courageous decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Our new embassy reaffirms our unbreakable commitment to one of our greatest friends and closest allies, the nation of Israel.”
Congressman Pittenger has traveled to Israel four times as a Member of Congress, meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, and local leaders to discuss joint efforts to defeat radical Islamic terrorism.
