WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) released this statement on the House of Representatives passage of a motion to go to conference on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1):
“Tonight, with my vote and support, the House of Representatives took a big step towards delivering pro-growth, job creating tax cuts as we advanced our motion to conference with the Senate,” said Congressman Pittenger. “Regrettably, Freedom Caucus leadership sought to hold this critical legislation hostage and voted against tonight’s bill.
“With passage, we can now work with our colleagues in the Senate to take the best of our respective bills and produce a unified final version for President Trump to sign into law. After years of suffering under a burdensome and oppressive tax code, historic tax relief is on the way for millions of hardworking Americans.”
