WASHINGTON – As part of his commitment to helping outstanding local students serve our country at the highest level, Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09) invites local middle and high school students to attend one of two “Service Academy Days” on Saturday, April 29th.

Representatives and cadets from West Point, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy will make presentations and be available for one-on-one meetings.  Congressman Pittenger’s staff will be available to discuss the rigorous nomination process.

·15th Annual Service Academy Day:  Saturday, April 29th, 10 a.m., Charlotte Catholic High School (7702 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Charlotte, NC).

·U.S. Service Academy Day:  Saturday, April 29th, 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., Fayetteville Technical Community College, General Classroom Building, Rooms 109 & 114 (2817 Fort Bragg Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28303).

“So far this year, 16 outstanding local students from the 9th Congressional District have received appointments to the Naval Academy, West Point, and Air Force Academy.  We expect a few more appointments before the end of the academic year,” said Congressman Pittenger.  “This Saturday is a special opportunity to get a head start on the Service Academy process.  Are you a student leader looking for a challenge?  Do you have the right stuff to graduate from a top military academy?  Join us Saturday and find out!”

Both events are open to local middle and high school students (public, private, homeschool, charter), as well as their family members, counselors, and educators.  For more information, contact Congressman Pittenger’s Charlotte office at 704-362-1060.
