CHARLOTTE – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09), who met with Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II in February, today wrote to express support following the Palm Sunday terrorist attack on two Coptic churches.

As part of a Congressional delegation in February, Congressman Pittenger met with Coptic Orthodox Pope Tawadros II and Rev. Dr. Andrea Zaki Stephanous, President of the Protestant Churches of Egypt.  Both leaders expressed appreciation for President Sisi’s unprecedented support of Egypt’s persecuted Christian minority.

“Once again, radical Islamist terrorists are seeking to divide Egypt and obliterate diversity,” said Congressman Pittenger.  “As our leaders respond to this heinous act, my hope is that President Sisi will be invited to meet with President Trump and address a Joint Session of Congress to explain his vision and needs in his battle against extremism.”
