WASHINGTON – Congressman Robert Pittenger (NC-09), who identified over $1.5 billion in spending cuts to help balance North Carolina’s budget while serving as a State Senator, had these comments on President Trump’s FY2018 budget proposal:
“Just like hardworking Americans do at home, President Trump’s budget focuses on priorities. He proposes spending $639 billion to support our military, increased funding for border security, and a critical focus on law enforcement and public safety.
“For once, we have a President who submitted a budget that will balance, with a plan to reduce our unsustainable national debt. Those committed to Washington’s status quo will attempt to use scare tactics to maintain every dime of wasteful spending. Those of us committed to financial accountability and job growth are excited to work with President Trump in this extraordinary opportunity to ensure the American dream for all.”
