Rep. David Rouzer was in Bladen County Thursday, at least his third trip since being sworn in as the Seventh District US Congressman.  He was elected to succeed veteran Congressman Mike McIntyre who did not seek re-election after serving nine terms.

Rouzer arrived in Bladen County around noontime after a morning visit to Columbus County.

His first stop was Delton where he met with owner Tony Autry and heard some of his thoughts and concerns about issues that have an effect on small businesses.  One of Autry’s main concerns is a lack of qualified workers. Delton currently employs nearly 40 workers.  Machinists are needed.

Rouzer, a Johnston County native, also visited the North Carolina DMV Call Center.  Renae Summerlin, DMV Center Manager and Chuck Heustess provided a tour or the center.  Over 140 employees serve North Carolina and beyond with information about insurance, registration and numerous other issues related to North Carolina DMV laws.

Next stop was at Alerttile.  Alex Monroe is the owner.  His company provides warning mats to numerous organizations, including some of the largest cities in the United States. The mats serve numerous needs including assisting citizens with ‘sight’ issues to know when they are nearing an intersection.

Monroe is also creating other businesses opportunities at the site.

Rouzer and a couple of aides spent about 2 hours in the Industrial Park.

Pat DeVane represented the Town of Elizabethtown.

The Congressman recently held an information gathering session with Bladen County Commissioners and earlier this week ‘dropped in’ at a Four County EMC meeting of members near Elizabethtown.

He was scheduled to visit other industries in the Bladen County area after his tour of the park.
