PEMBROKE – Former West Bladen star Conner Brisson batted 2-3 and knocked in 3 runs Friday in UNC-Pembroke’s 9-1 victory over Coker in the 1st game of a softball double-header. Coker won the 2nd game 6-3.

In the 3rd inning of the opener, Brisson walloped a double to deep right field that drove in Emily Biddle and Jordan Adcox and pushed the Lady Brave lead to 5-1.

In the 5th inning, Brisson belted a single to centerfield that scored Adcox again. Brisson later raced home when teammate Mary Sells smashed a double that grew the lead to 9-1.

With the Lady Braves trailing 6-0 in the nightcap, another former West Bladen star, Carley Dawson, pinch-hit with 2 runners on base and laid down a sacrifice bunt that plated Sells. Moments later Tatum Brummitt darted home on a throwing error on the same play with the 2nd UNCP run. It was Dawson’s first plate appearance of the season.

UNC-Pembroke swept a double-header from Methodist Saturday to improve to 10-4 on the season. The Lady Braves will travel to Mount Olive Thursday for a 2 p.m. double-header.
