The West Bladen boys’ basketball team is off to a 7-0 start. The Knights girls’ team has won six of their first seven.

Tonight, they’re hoping you’ll come out to The Castle to support them in their final home game before Christmas.

The school’s athletics director and boys’ basketball coach Travis Pait and five of his players took to Twitter asking the fans to come out for tonight’s games against South Columbus.

The dunk by Chase Williams, with a dribble so as not to travel and with the other four players jumping, is the perfect ending. Nice job!

Don’t tell me that Travis Pait wasn’t one of the “cool kids” when he played at Bladenboro High School.

The varsity girls’ game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys’ game about 7:30.

Very disappointing that Larrell Murchison was placed on the Los Angeles Rams’ inactive list prior to Monday’s game at Green Bay. Thought for sure he would play since defensive tackles Aaron Donald and Marquise Copeland were out because of ankle injuries. Alas, it wasn’t to be.

MYRTLE BEACH BOWL: Marshall took advantage of a pair of first quarter turnovers and beat Connecticut 28-14 on Monday in Conway, South Carolina. The Thundering Herd, which stunned Notre Dame 26-21 in September, built a 28-0 lead in the third quarter, then held on. Of note, neither team had a player opt out of the game and both head coaches — Marshall’s Charles Huff and UConn’s Jim Mora Jr. — will be back to their respective schools next season.

FENWAY BOWL (Saturday): Louisville won the Scott Satterfield Bowl 24-7 over Cincinnati and claimed the Keg of Nails trophy. Satterfield was the coach at Louisville, but took the Cincinnati job after the regular season. Awkward, no? He didn’t attend the game. Does he get credit for a win and a loss? The teams had not met since 2013, but used to meet yearly for the Keg of Nails. Guess it was a way for the winning team to build a program.

Still working on checking out the rest of the Saturday bowl games. Great thing about streaming replays is that most of the commercials and all of the halftime show is cut.
