A tractor-trailer overturned on Wednesday morning spilling a load peanuts and forcing the closure of NC 41 in the vicinity of NC 41 Grocery and Grill.  The incident occurred at 11:24 a.m. and the road remained closed at 4:30 p.m.

NC Highway Patrol Trooper G. White anticipates the roadway will re-open later Wednesday evening.

Trooper White said the Maceo Williams, 46, of Colerain, NC was driving a tractor-trailer owned by Majett Trucking of Ridge Square, NC northbound on NC 131. Williams attempted to turn right onto NC 41 when the rear wheel slipped out of the roadway and caused the trailer to turn over.

There were no injuries reported and William was charged with an unsafe movement violation.

Trooper White said the peanuts have been unloaded from the trailer.
