A head-on collision on NC 211 Bypass between Webb Faulk Road and Berry Lewis Road resulted in a fatality on Friday afternoon. The crash caused emergency officials to close NC 211 Bypass temporarily.
Henry Ferrell Martin, 91, of Whiteville was traveling westbound on the NC 211 Bypass when he was killed as he attempted to pass a Monte Carlo. While passing the Monte Carlo, Martin’s vehicle struck an Acura head-on in the eastbound lane of the NC 211 Bypass, said NC Highway Patrol Sgt. Matt Hardee. The driver of the Monte Carlo managed to miss the crash and ended up in the ditch.
Cedric Pittman, who was the driver of the Acura, was air lifted to the hospital, said Sgt. Hardee. Trooper Freeman investigated the crash.
