A three vehicle crash caused emergency officials to close NC 211 in the vicinity of Twisted Hickory Road on Monday afternoon. The road remained closed for about an hour as the crash was investigated and officials worked to clean the crash scene. The crash occurred at 4 p.m.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper R. L. Walker said a logging truck being driven by Ballard Braxton of Bolton was traveling westbound on NC 211 following a black Camaro being driven by Marilyn Willis of Bladenboro.
A burgundy Suzuki SUV being driven by Makayla Jade Quattlebaum of Clarkton was traveling eastbound on NC 211. Trooper Walker said Quattlebaum traveled left of center and Willis tried to avoid Quattlebaum’s car by swerving to the left. Trooper Walker said Quattlebaum also tried to move over and the two vehicles collided. The logging truck attempted to avoid the collision and ran into the ditch to the right.
Trooper Walker is investigating and charges are pending.
The Bladenboro Fire Department, the Clarkton Fire Department, Bladen County EMS, the North Carolina Highway Patrol, New Hanover Regional Air Link, and McLeod Regional Critical Care helicopter all responded to the scene.
