The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a multi-agency Crisis Response Exercise at the Paul Brown Leadership Academy (PBLA) today (Friday, April 20, 2018) from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

This exercise is the first of it’s kind to be conducted in our area where regional and local assets will work together in an integrated public safety response to a crisis at a school, said Sgt. Gary Turlington with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

Participating in the event are local and regional law enforcement, fire departments, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare Emergency Staff, and other emergency response entities.

Sgt. Turlington said the event will be staged at the Elizabethtown Middle School and the response will be for a simulated crisis at the Paul Brown Leadership Academy.

Motorists are asked to avoid the roadways in this area during the training event. A portion of Martin Luther King Jr. road will be closed during the event to facilitate the numerous responding units correlating to appropriate and realistic response times.

“This important training is to practice improved and enhanced response capabilities for the citizens we serve in the region, most especially our children,” said Sgt. Turlington.
