LUMBERTON – Johnny Alvarado won his 3rd consecutive Southeastern Athletic Conference boys cross country meet, and 4 other Bladen County runners – 2 girls and 2 boys – posted a top ten finish in Wednesday’s meet at Luther Britt Park.

West Bladen’s Demon’tre Love finished 3rd in the boys race, and Alvarado’s teammate, Jacob Knuth, recorded a 4th place finish.

In the girls race, West Bladen’s Lainey Autry topped all the Bladen girls with a 6th place finish. East Bladen’s Sabara McClain led the Lady Eagles with a 9th place finish.

Other West Bladen girls racing included Kirsten Warrick (13th place), Holland Davis (14th place) and Kaden Thurman (23rd place).

East Bladen won the boys’ team competition with 42 points. Clinton was runner-up with 57 points. Fairmont was third with 61 points followed by St. Pauls (67 points) and Red Springs (112 points).

Midway’s Hailey Heppel won the girls race in with a time of 25 minutes, 20 seconds. The Lady Raiders won the team competition with 21 points. East Bladen and Clinton tied for2nd place with 72 points. West Bladen didn’t have 5 girls competing to qualify for the team competition.
