The Cycle North Carolina Mountains to the Coast Ride is taking place as originally scheduled. The tourist event will begin Saturday, September 29 until Saturday, October 6.  According to the organizer’s website the ride will start in Black Mountain and follow the tour down North Carolina as follows: Morganton – Mooresville – Archdale – Southern Pines – Dunn – Elizabethtown – Oak Island.

Witt Tuttell, Executive Director with Visit NC is excited about the tour and says it is one of the biggest bicycle tours in the United States. The cyclist will be in Bladen County for the tour of Elizabethtown on October 5th according to Dawn Maynard, Executive Director of the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.

Maynard said, “Please plan accordingly to welcome participants to our community and your business! Please take the time to prepare a welcome sign and display it in your store windows and/or entrances.”

Maynard did announce a need for those participating in the tour ride. Due to the misfortunes from Hurricane Florence many housing accommodations are assisting the displaced residents and emergency responders seeking shelter from the damages of the storm. Many reservations for riders have had to be canceled.

Anyone with the means to offer housing to the participants of the ride are asked to please contact the event planners by visiting their website at www.ncsports.org or call 919-361-1133.
