DJ MasonWest Bladen grad D. J. Mason posted a double-double with career highs of 24 points and 15 rebounds, but his Campbell Camels fell to hot-shooting Presbyterian 70-63 Saturday in Big South Conference action.

Mason connected on all nine of his 2-point attempts, made 1 of 3 shots behind the 3-point arc and sank 3 of 5 foul shots. The 6-6 senior also dished out 2 assists and had one steal.

Mason drilled a 3-point shot for the first basket of the game then dropped in a trio of lay-ups in the first half that ended with the Blue Hose ahead 32-29.

The Clarkton native scored 12 of Campbell’s first 17 points of the second half. Mason hit 2 free throws, made 4 lay-ups and slammed in a dunk to keep the Camels within 48-45 with 9:27 left to play.

A Mason lay-up trimmed the Presbyterian lead to 54-53 with 6:02 remaining.

The Camels are now 2-2 in the Big South and 8-6 overall. Campbell travels to Gardner-Webb Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
