Dan Gerlach, recently named interim chancellor at East Carolina University, will
be the featured speaker at the 2019 curriculum graduation ceremonies for Bladen Community College.

Since October 2008 and until his recent appointment as ECU interim chancellor,
Mr. Gerlach has served as president of the Golden LEAF Foundation, a non profit
which works to increase economic development and opportunities in rural
communities of North Carolina.

Mr. Gerlach has previously served as a legislative budget analyst, nonprofit policy director and senior advisor to the Governor. He has served on over a dozen commissions on budget, tax, agriculture and economic development at the state and national level. Mr. Gerlach is currently on the boards of the MyFutureNC Commission and the NC Early Childhood Foundation and is serving on the Transition Committee for Dr. Bill Roper at the UNC System.
Mr. Gerlach holds an M.P.A. in state and local public finance from the Maxwell
School of Syracuse University and bachelor’s degrees in economics and English
from the University of Notre Dame. He has served as an adjunct instructor of
public administration at UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State University.

Due to the large number of graduates this year, Bladen Community College will
hold an additional graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16 th Curriculum
ceremonies will be begin at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively and guests will need to present a ticket for admission. All ceremonies will be held in the college
auditorium.

In addition to the curriculum graduation ceremonies, Bladen Community College graduates receiving their high school credentials will participate in a
commencement ceremony held at 3:30 pm on May 16 th featuring Dr. Amanda Lee as the keynote speaker and student remarks. This graduation ceremony will also take place in the college auditorium and no guest tickets will be required.
