Spread the love

Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Battle of Elizabethtown Chapter recently organized a gratitude campaign during the Coronavirus outbreak. The clubs’ national motto is “God, Home, and Country”, with the theme of “Rise and Shine for America!”

Knowing this should leave no room for surprise when Susie Wilkes, Vice Regent explained the local chapter’s new project. She sent out a newsletter to DAR Battle of Elizabethtown Chapter members asking them about putting a blue ribbon around a tree in their yard in support of all of the people on the front lines. The people she mentioned who are keeping our country going are first responders, medical personnel, grocery store workers, postal workers, and delivery folks!

Wilkes said, “I thought that we could use this idea in support of our Chapter Regent, Dr. Terri Duncan, Bladen County Health Director. I am sure she needs our prayers.”

Some blue ribbons have already been seen on some trees around Bladen County. BladenOnline.com found a ribbon to use on our post out front.

If you have an idea or praise, please email the information to gm@bladenonline.com.
