The deadline to pay your 2017 property taxes is fast approaching. Your property taxes, both real property and personal property, must be paid by January 5, 2018, to avoid accruing interest.

According to Bladen County Tax Administrator Renee Davis, property taxes for 2017 will begin accruing interest on January 6th, 2018. The Bladen County Tax Office has the authority to begin force collections such as wage garnishments on 2017 property taxes on that date, said Davis.

Davis said there are several methods you can use to pay your taxes. You can by telephone, pay online at http://bladen.ustaxdata.com/ TaxSearch.cfm, or use the drop box on the outside of the courthouse. Davis added if you cannot pay your tax bill in full, you can come to the Bladen County Tax Office and set up a payment plan.

She also said the time for tax listings will begin on January 1, 2018 and end on January 31, 2018.

“If you need to list your taxes, you need to come to the (tax) office,” said Davis.

You must list such personal property items as campers, mobile homes, unregistered vehicles, vehicles with permanent tags.

Businesses must list equipment that makes the business function such motors, farm equipment, etc.

Davis said if you need an extension for your business listing, you need to request the extension by January 31st in order for it to be granted.

The Bladen County Tax Office will be closed December 25th through December 27th for the Christmas holiday and will re-open on Thursday, December 28th. The office will also be closed on January 1st, 2018, in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

If you have questions, you can call the Bladen County Tax Office at 910-862-6730.
