East Bladen grad Desmond Bryant, a 3-year starter on the defensive line, was released by the Cleveland Browns Tuesday night, according to a report on ESPN News.

Bryant, 31, was attempting a comeback after missing the entire 2016 season with a torn pectoral muscle, but the Browns had loaded up with defensive linemen. Both of the Browns 2016 starters were returning and the team had drafted 3 more defensive linemen. The team had also picked up an undrafted free agent at the position.

Bryant had started 41 games in 3 seasons at Cleveland. In his career Bryant has 26 career sacks and four forced fumbles.
