TABOR CITY – Columbus County edged Bladen County 9-8 Monday night in an elimination game in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament.
The Bladen team scored 4 runs in the first inning. Amare Campbell ripped a single to left, and Zee Pone walloped a home run. Cooper Mills cracked a single, and Devan Haire blasted a home run to leftfield.
Campbell hammered a triple in the third inning and Pone knocked him in with a single.
Dylan McLaurin led off the Bladen County fourth inning with a single, and Sha’moni McNair hammered a triple that scored McLaurin. Aaron Rogers followed with a single that scored McNair.
Singles by Campbell, Pone and Cooper Mills belted singles that produced the final Bladen run in the fifth inning.
Pone batted 3-3 with a home run, a run scored and 3 runs batted in for Bladen County. Campbell finished 3-3 at the plate with a triple and 3 runs scored. Mills also batted 3-3 with a run scored and an rbi.
Haire slugged the 2-run homer, and McLaurin batted 2-3 with a run scored. McNair smashed a triple to drive in a run and scored a run. Rogers and Xavier Clark smacked singles, and Rogers drove in a run.
