TABOR CITY –Elizabethtown rolled to an 18-8 victory over Whiteville Monday night to advance to Wednesday’s championship game of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament.

Elizabethtown jumped in front with 2 runs in the first inning. Singles by Prince McKoy, Lathan Cashwell and Noah German loaded the bases, before Aiden Trinidad slammed a double that scored McKoy and Cashwell.

After Whiteville closed to within 2-1, Elizabethtown pulled away with 7 runs in the second inning. Hits by Gauge King, Hutch Glenn and Rex Register loaded the bases, and Chandler Wall ripped a double that scored Gauge King and Glenn.

McKoy drove in Register with a single, before Cashwell slugged a triple that scored Wall and McKoy. German smacked a single that plated Cashwell. Jaylen Smith clobbered a triple to centerfield that scored German for a 9-1 lead.

Trinidad, Colt Lewis and Gaston Russ started the Elizabethtown third inning with singles. Taylor King’s fielder’s choice plated Trinidad, and Gauge King drove in Lewis and Russ with a double.

Glenn singled, and Register drilled a triple that scored Gauge King and Glenn. Wall belted a single that scored Register, and McKoy blasted a triple that scored Wall. Cashwell followed with a single that scored McKoy to boost the Elizabethtown lead to 16-2.

Smith crushed a home run down the leftfield line to begin the Elizabethtown fourth. Trinidad smashed a triple and scored on Lewis’ single that grew the lead to 18-2.

Whiteville scored 6 runs in the fourth inning, but the game was ended after 4 innings by the ten-run rule.

Cashwell batted 3-3 with a triple, 2 runs scored and 3 runs batted in to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Trinidad finished 3-3 at the plate with a double, a triple, 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s. McKoy batted 3-3 with a triple, 3 runs scored and 2 rbi’s.

Gauge King finished 3-3 at the plate with a double, 2 runs scored and 2 rbi’s. German and Lewis both batted 3-3 with a run scored and an rbi each. Russ was 3-3 at the plate with a run scored. Register batted 2-2 with a triple, a run scored and 2 rbi’s.

Wall batted 2-2 with a double, 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Glenn finished 2-2 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Smith batted 2-3 with a home run, a triple, a run scored and 2 rbi’s. Taylor King also finished 2-3 at the plate with an rbi.

Elizabethtown will battle the winner of Tuesday’s Whiteville/Columbus County game in the championship game.
