TABOR CITY –Whiteville defeated Bladen County 11-3 Tuesday night to advance to Wednesday’s championship game of the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Tournament.

Bladen County finished third in the tournament and both of their losses were to unbeaten Whiteville. Due to a quirk with the byes in the DYB bracket Bladen County had to play Whiteville again instead of once-beaten Riegelwood. Riegelwood advanced to the championship game.

Bladen County grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Chase Bryan belted a single and scored when Caleb Parnell hammered a double. Samuel Cummings slammed a double that scored Parnell, and Ashton Davis knocked in Cummings with a double.

Whiteville answered with 6 runs in the home half of the first, padded their lead to 7-3 in the second inning and pulled away with 2 runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Parnell finished 2-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored and a run batted in. Cummings batted 2-3 with a double, a run scored and an rbi. Cole Brisson batted 2-3 with a double. Luke Bryant finished with a perfect 2-2 game at the plate.

Davis doubled home a run, and Chase Bryan, Andrew Wren, Gavin Brisson and Cayden Simmons connected for one hit each.
