TABOR CITY – Whiteville defeated Bladen County 14-2 Saturday night in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Coach-Pitch Tournament.
The Bladen All-Stars scored both of their runs in the first inning. Chase Bryan, Cole Brisson and Dillon Brisson belted consecutive singles that scored Bryan. Caleb Parnell poled a fly ball to rightfield that scored Cole Brisson.
Cole Brisson batted 2-2 with a run scored to lead the Bladen hitters. Bryan, Dillon Brisson, Parnell, Samuel Cummings, Ashton Davis, Brady Rhodes, Luke Bryant and Gavin Brisson connected for one hit each for the Bladen team.
Bladen County will play the Riegelwood/Columbus County loser Sunday at 4 p.m. in an elimination game.
