RIEGELWOOD – Columbus County rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to defeat Bladen County 9-6 Saturday in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Supplemental Tournament.
 
Bladen pitcher Josh Russ struck out the side in the first inning, and the Bladen bats came to life in the home first. Tragen McCullom hammered a triple to left-centerfield, and Samaj Dove slammed a stand-up double that scored McCullom.
 
Russ then walloped a home run over the left-centerfield fence that scored Dove and put Bladen County ahead 3-0.
 
Columbus County capitalized on walks and a number of errors to score 3 runs in the second inning and 5 more in the third inning to take an 8-3 lead. The Columbus team only totaled 3 hits in the game. 
 
Bladen County rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the third. Dove laced a single and raced home when C. J. Jones smashed a double to centerfield. Chandler Russ knocked in Jones with a single and circled the bases as the Columbus County defense made a couple of errors.
 
Dove batted 2-2 with the double to lead the Bladen hitters. Russ slugged the 2-run homer, and McCullom blasted the triple. Jones smashed the run-scoring double, and Russ added a single.
 
Bladen County will play Whiteville Sunday at 3 p.m. in an elimination game.
