Russ then walloped a home run over the left-centerfield fence that scored Dove and put Bladen County ahead 3-0.

Bladen County rallied for 3 runs in the bottom of the third. Dove laced a single and raced home when C. J. Jones smashed a double to centerfield. Chandler Russ knocked in Jones with a single and circled the bases as the Columbus County defense made a couple of errors.
Dove batted 2-2 with the double to lead the Bladen hitters. Russ slugged the 2-run homer, and McCullom blasted the triple. Jones smashed the run-scoring double, and Russ added a single.
