TABOR CITY – Whiteville defeated Elizabethtown 18-5 Monday night in a District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Supplemental Tournament elimination game.

Peyton Tatum cracked a 2-out single in the Elizabethtown first inning, and Mason Smith slammed a double to drive him in. Whiteville scored 6 runs in the first to take a 6-1 lead.

Allister Russ led off the Elizabethtown second inning with a single. Russ came around to score on a wild pitch. Whiteville opened up a 14-2 lead in their half of the second.

Jackson Smith and Colin King belted singles in the second inning, and Jackson Smith raced home when Nolan Tatum laced a single. Peyton Tatum walked, and Mason Smith smacked a single that scored Nolan Tatum. Tre’don Scott and Russ were hit by pitches to force home Peyton Tatum and whittle the lead to 14-5.

Whiteville scored 4 more runs in their third inning.

Mason Smith batted 2-2 with a double to lead the Elizabethtown hitters. Nolan Tatum, Russ, Jackson Smith, King and Peyton Tatum connected for one hit each.
