Dixie Youth BaseballLUMBERTON – A 16-run sixth-inning blew open a close game and propelled Elizabethtown to a 33-13 victory over Fairmont Saturday night in Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 AA (Coach-Pitch) Tournament action at Northeast Park.

Elizabethtown advanced to a third round winners bracket game Sunday at 5:30 against West Robeson American.

Fairmont only trailed 17-13 after 5 innings, before Elizabethtown sent 21 batters to the plate in the sixth inning. C. J. McCracken reached on an infield hit, but was retired on Ahmarie White’s fielder’s choice. Isaiah Robinson pulled a single down the leftfield line.

Zach Sholar slapped a single to rightfield that scored White, and Tyler Lewis’ infield hit plated Robinson. Davion Lewis’ infield hit scored Sholar, before Dawson Wright slammed a double that scored Tyler Lewis and Davion Lewis.

Mason Smith knocked in Wright with a single to right. Ryan Dove followed with a single that scored Smith, and Colton Daly cracked a single. Jake Gooden’s infield hit scored Dove, and Easton Bostic roped a single to right-centerfield that scored Daly.

McCracken yanked a single to left that scored Gooden. White beat out an infield hit, and Sholar ripped a single to centerfield that scored McCracken. Tyler Lewis rapped a single to centerfield that plated White.

Davion Lewis swatted a single to right that scored Sholar, and Dove spanked a single to right field that drove in Tyler Lewis and Davion Lewis. An error on the play scored Dove with the sixteenth run of the inning.

Tyler Lewis reached on an infield hit in the first inning, and Wright drove him in with a single to right for an early 1-0 Elizabethtown lead.

Fairmont went ahead 2-1 in the home first, but Elizabethtown countered with a 7-run second for an 8-2 lead. Dove pounded a triple to left and scored on Daly’s infield hit. Gooden raked a single to left, and Bostic’s infield hit plated Daly. Gooden raced home on an error.

McCracken poked a double down the rightfield line to drive in Bostic. A double play interrupted the rally, but Robinson and Sholar added a single each, and Tyler Lewis lined a triple down the right field line that scored Robinson and Sholar. Davion Lewis drove in Tyler Lewis with a single that put Elizabethtown up 8-2.

Fairmont answered with 4 runs to trim the margin to 8-6. Wright beat out an infield hit in the Elizabethtown third. Smith hammered a double to right-centerfield that scored Wright. Dove legged out an infield hit, and Daly’s single eluded the second baseman and brought home Smith.

Gooden’s infield hit scored Dove, and Bostic’s infield hit loaded the bases. McCracken cleaned the sacks with a triple that scored Daly, Gooden and Bostic. White drilled a triple to left that scored McCracken and padded the lead to 15-6.

Fairmont rallied with 7 runs in the bottom half to slice the margin to 15-13. Elizabethtown tacked on a pair of runs in the fourth. Robinson clubbed a double to left-centerfield, and Sholar knocked him in with a single to right-centerfield.

Tyler Lewis sliced an opposite field single, before Wright drove in Sholar with a double to right-centerfield.

Tyler Lewis batted a perfect 5-5 with a triple, 5 runs batted in and 5 runs scored. Wright also finished 5-5 with 2 doubles, 4 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. McCracken was a perfect 4-4 with a triple, a double, 5 rbi’s and 2 runs scored.

Daly batted 4-4 with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Gooden was 4-4 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Sholar finished 4-5 at the plate with 4 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Smith also batted 4-5 with a double, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored.

Bostic batted 3-4 with 2 rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Robinson finished 3-4 with a double and 3 runs scored. Davion Lewis was 3-5 with 4 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Dove batted 3-5 with a triple, an rbi and 3 runs scored. White was 2-4 with a triple, an rbi and 2 runs scored.
