The District 9 Coach Pitch (AA) Tournament begins Friday in Red Springs with Elizabethtown opening play against Lumberton at 6 p.m. Mark McMichael is the head coach of the Elizabethtown team.
The tournament continues daily through Tuesday. Other teams competing in the tournament are Fairmont, West Robeson and Red Springs.
The District 2 Coach Pitch Tournament begins Saturday in Clarkton. Bladen County will play Columbus County at 10:30 a.m. If Bladen County wins, they advance to a noon game Saturday against the Whiteville/South Columbus winner.
A loss in the 10:30 game would put Bladen County in a losers bracket game at 12:30 against the Whiteville/South Columbus loser. The double elimination tournament will conclude Sunday night. Graham Burney is the head coach of the Bladen County team.
