ELIZABETHTOWN – Ryan Johnson and Walker Ward combined to pitch a 3-hit shutout as Elizabethtown blanked West Robeson American 10-0 Saturday in the Dixie Youth Baseball District 9 Majors Supplemental Tournament.

Elizabethtown will play West Robeson National Sunday at 5 p.m. in a winner’s bracket game.

Ryan Johnson struck out 5 and allowed 3 hits and a walk. Ward pitched a hitless fourth inning. The Elizabethtown defense turned 2 double plays. In the second inning, a quick flip from secondbaseman Nathan Howell to shortstop Malcolm Bolden started one double play.

In the fourth inning, Bolden grabbed a high bouncer behind the mound, stepped back on second base and fired to first to complete the game-ending double play.

Elijah Crabtree ripped a double to right-centerfield in the Elizabethtown first inning. K. J. Brown lined a single that drove in Crabtree, and Ryan Johnson slapped a grounder past first base that scored Brown.

After a catcher’s interference call put Carson Gooden on first base, Zamar Lewis belted a single that scored Ryan Johnson for a 3-0 lead.

Elizabethtown tacked on 4 more runs in the second. Tyler Johnson walked, and Destin Montgomery drilled a single to rightfield. After a walk to Howell, Bolden smacked a single to centerfield that scored Tyler Johnson and Montgomery.

Crabtree walloped a double over the rightfielder’s head that scored Howell and Bolden.

Tyler Johnson led off the Elizabethtown fourth with a single. Crabtree laced a single to rightfield, before Elijah Bullard blasted a double off the rightfield fence that scored Johnson.

Brown’s fielder’s choice plated Crabtree, and Bullard dashed home on a wild pitch with the final run.

Crabtree batted 3-3 with 2 doubles, 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Ryan Johnson finished 2-2 at the plate with an rbi and a run scored. Bullard doubled in a run and scored one.

Bolden, Brown, Lewis, Tyler Johnson, and Montgomery added one single each to the 11-hit Elizabethtown attack. Bolden and Brown drove in 2 runs each, and Ryan Johnson and Lewis had one rbi each.

Tyler Johnson scored 2 runs, and Bolden, Brown, Ryan Johnson, Montgomery and Howell scored one run each.
