On Friday, November 18, 2016, the 21st Annual Candlelight Memorial to Honor Victims of Homicide will take place at First Presbyterian Church (125 S. 3rd Street) in Wilmington from 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial is hosted by the Office of District Attorney Ben David and the Office of District Attorney Jon David, and honors victims in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.

The event continues a tradition of honoring victims and is the only local memorial service of its kind that is open to the public. All five counties have regular meetings of Homicide Family Support Groups, which are private.

District Attorney Ben David commented, “The responsibility of speaking for the deceased in criminal trials is one that my office does not take lightly. Furthermore, our office feels that it is our duty to ensure that victims are never forgotten by coming together as a community to honor their memories.”

The ceremony is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
