The Gators pounded out 13 hits and defeated the Hurricanes 17-2 Friday night in Dixie Boys Baseball action at County Park.

Ayden Piland hammered a one-out triple to ignite a 5-run Gator first inning. Zach Meares walked, and Raymond Autry crushed a 2-run triple to leftfield. Autry darted home on a wild pitch, and Jacob Priest walked. Cameron Flowers cracked a run-scoring single and scored on an error.

The Hurricanes rallied to within 5-2 in the second inning. Devon Strange laced a double to centerfield, and Alex Strange was hit by a pitch. Kaiden Stanley whistled a 2-run single to leftfield.

The Gators exploded for 8 runs in the third to open up a 13-2 lead. Piland poked a single to centerfield, and Meares walloped a run-scoring triple to deep left. Autry ripped a double down the leftfield line that plated Meares. Priest walked, and Zach Butler reached on a passed third strike that scored Autry.

Victor Campbell lined a double to centerfield that plated Priest. Donnie Ezzell delivered a single that scored Butler and Campbell. Kenneth Armstrong, Jr. belted a single to left-centerfield that brought home Ezzell. Armstrong sprinted home as Sherman Monroe reached base on a passed third strike.

A 4-run Gator fourth inning ended the game on the mercy rule. Piland, Meares and Autry drew walks, and Priest smacked a 2-run single. Butler was hit by a pitch, and Autry scooted home on a wild pitch. Campbell clubbed a double that scored Butler.

Autry batted 2-2 with a triple and a double to lead the Gator hitters. Piland finished 2-2 with a triple, and Campbell slugged 2 doubles to finish 2-2. Meares blasted a triple, and Flowers, Ezzell, Armstrong and Monroe added one hit each.

Priest started on the mound and pitched 2 innings to record the win allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter while striking out four. Ethan Johnson pitched the final 2 scoreless innings giving up 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out two.

Stanley batted 2-2 to lead the Hurricane hitters. Devon Strange drilled a double, and Elijah Crabtree and Alex Strange collected the other Hurricane hits.

Crabtree started on the mound for the Gators and pitched into the third inning striking out 2 batters. Devon Strange relieved in the third and worked into the fourth inning strking out 2 batters. Michael Young took the hill in the fourth inning and struck out 2 in his one inning of work.
