Dixie Boys Baseball: Navy 14, Columbia 5
ELIZABETHTOWN – The Navy pounded out 15 hits en route to a 14-5 victory over Columbia in Dixie Boys Baseball action Wednesday night at County Park.
Mahki Cromartie slammed a first inning double and raced home on Tyler Hill’s single to edge Columbia in front 1-0 in the top of the first inning.
Antonio Candelaria led off the Navy first with a single and scored on a passed ball. After walks to Bryley Williams and Michel Young, Elijah Crabtree slammed a 2-run double to right-centerfield and darted home on an error for a 4-1 Navy lead.
Josh Russ and Davion Graham drew walks in the Navy second inning, and both raced home when Aaron Wren smacked a 2-run single to centerfield to boost the lead to 6-1.
Pumpkin Smith belted a single, and Kaiden Stanley walked to begin the Navy third, before Candelaria blasted a 3-run home run.
Brycen Blackmon slapped a single to right, and dashed home when Williams clubbed a single to right. Young knocked in Williams with a single to pad the lead to 11-1.
Walks to Chase Starkloff, Cromartie, Ayden Piland and Ryan Johnson produced a run in the Columbia fourth inning.
Russ started the Navy fourth with a single. Wadeyn Norris was hit by a pitch, and walks to Graham and Wren forced home Russ. Smith delivered a single that scored Graham for a 13-2 lead.
Starkloff hammered a triple in the Columbia sixth inning and scored on Cromartie’s sacrifice fly to trim the margin to 13-3.
Alex Strange laced a single in the Navy sixth inning, stole a base and eventually darted home on a passed ball.
Alex Brisson cracked a 2-out single in the Columbia seventh inning, and Tyler Johnson walloped a triple that scored Brisson. Walker Ward yanked a single to rightfield that plated Tyler Johnson for a final score of 14-5.
Candelaria batted 3-3 with a home run, scored 3 runs and drove in three. Young finished 2-2 at the plate with a run batted in and a run scored. Smith batted 2-2 with an rbi and a run scored.
Crabtree clubbed a 2-run double and scored a run. Williams doubled home a run and scored twice. Blackmon, Alex Strange, Russ, Norris, Wren and Riley Stanley connected for one hit each.
Graham and Russ scored 2 runs each. Blackmon, Alex Strange, Riley Stanley and Kaiden Stanley scored one run each. Wren drove in 3 runs for the winners.
Starkloff tripled and scored twice for Columbia. Tyler Johnson tripled home a run and scored a run. Cromartie doubled, scored a run and drove in a run. Hill, Brisson and Ward added one hit each. Hill, Ward and Ryan Johnson drove in runs. Brisson scored a run.
Devon Strange pitched the first 3.1 innings for the Navy and struck out six. Kaiden Stanley relieved and struck out 3 batters in 1.1 innings . Williams followed Stanley to the mound and struck out two in 1.1 innings. Alex Strange closed out the game and struck out one.Share:
