West Bladen rallied for single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to post a 2-1 victory over visiting Whiteville Friday night in Dixie Pre-Majors Baseball action.

Whiteville took a 1-0 lead in the fifth, but Knight outfielder Donald McCullum threw out a Wolfpack runner at the plate to end the inning and lee the score at 1-0.

The Knights tied the game in the home fifth as Chandler Lennon hammered a triple to deep left-centerfield, then raced home on Seth Britt’s infield roller.

Shortstop Weston Pidgeon belted a single to begin the West Bladen sixth. Catcher Brandon Carson sacrificed him to second, and after Trey Storms was hit by a pitch, Hunter Pait’s fly ball moved Pidgeon to third base. Caleb Sholar beat out an infield hit that scored Pidgeon with the go-ahead run.

Lefthander Jarrett Williams started on the hill and pitched 4 scoreless innings for West Bladen. Scott Bowen relieved in the fifth and pitched the final 3 innings to pick up the win.

Bowen batted a perfect 2-2 to lead the Knight hitters. Lennon tripled and scored a run. Pidgeon singled and scored a run. Sholar singled and drove in a run. Williams collected the other Knight hit, and Britt drove in a run.

The Knights improved to 5-4 with the win and will play Monday at East Columbus at 6 p.m.
