West Bladen’s Knights traveled to Fayetteville Academy Saturday morning to participate in a Dixie Pre-Majors weekend tournament. The Knights battled a 19-Under team from Fayetteville to a 5-5 tie.

“We played pretty good defense,” said Knight Coach Kim Cain. “We didn’t make an error in the game. We didn’t get but 2 hits, but we faced some pretty good pitching. They were an older team.”

The Knights capitalized on a couple of walks and a pair of Fayetteville errors to score 4 runs in the first then tacked on another run in the second. Dalton Pait connected for both of the West Bladen hits.

Trent West started on the mound and pitched the first 4 innings for West. Scott Bowen worked the final 2 innings on the hill in the six-inning game.

The Knights led 5-2 until Fayetteville rallied to tie the game with a 3-run fifth.

Tuesday’s West Bladen/East Bladen game has been rescheduled for West Bladen (weather permitting) at 6 p.m.
