Dixie Pre-Majors Baseball West Bladen Sweeps Loris, SC

West Bladen swept both ends of a Dixie Pre-Majors Baseball double-header from Loris, SC Thursday night by scores of 6-2 and 13-4.

Seth Britt slammed a double to start the Knight first inning. Britt advanced on an infield out and raced home on Scott Bowen’s sacrifice fly. Chandler Lennon blasted a double, and Ray Jones knocked in Trey Storms, Lennon’s courtesy runner, with a single.

The Knights stretched their lead to 5-0 with 3 runs in the second. Caleb Sholar hammered a triple to left-centerfield, and after Ian Sykes walked, Britt’s fielder’s choice plated Sholar.

An error on the play allowed Britt to reach base, and Sykes dashed home on a wild pitch. Bowen’s fielder’s choice scored Britt. Bowen blasted a triple to deep left-centerfield, and Lennon swatted a double that scored Bowen.

Lennon pitched 4-plus innings to pick up the win, striking out 4 and allowing 2 runs on a hit and 3 walks. Jones came on in relief to record the final 3 outs and struck out one.

Bowen batted 2-2 with a triple, 2 runs batted in and a run scored. Lennon finished 2-2 at the plate with 2 doubles and an rbi. Sholar tripled and scored a run. Jones drove in a run with a single, and Pait added a single as the Knights totaled 7 hits in the first game.

West Bladen jumped in front with 6 runs in the first inning of Game 2. Bowen ripped a triple to deep left-centerfield, and Lennon blasted a triple off the right-field fence that scored Bowen.

Jones walked, and Hunter Pait belted a single that scored Lennon. Jonathan Ashworth drove in a run with a single, and Sholar laced a single that drove in a run. Sykes walloped a triple over the right-fielder’s head that drove in the final 2 runs of the inning.

West Bladen added 4 more runs in the second inning. Britt smacked a single, stole a base and dashed home when Bowen cracked a single. Jones pounded a triple over the left-fielder’s head that scored Bowen.

Pait smashed a double that scored Jones, and Ashworth reached base on an error that scored Pait.

Storms slugged a double over the left-fielder’s head to start the Knight third inning, and courtesy runner Brandon Carson scored when Weston Pidgeon rapped a single. Lennon drilled a double that scored Pidgeon, and Jones crushed a triple over the center-fielder’s head to drive in the final Knight run.

Storms pitched 4 innings to pick up the win, striking out 3 and allowing 4 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks.

West Bladen racked up 14 hits in the game. Jones batted a perfect 2-2 with a pair of triples and 2 rbi’s. Lennon finished 2-3 with a triple, a double and 2 rbi’s. Bowen was 2-3 with a triple and an rbi.

Pait batted 2-3 with a double and an rbi. Sykes tripled in 2 runs. Storms doubled, and Sholar, Pidgeon, Britt and Ashworth added one hit each with Pidgeon, Sholar and Ashworth picking up one rbi each.

West Bladen improves to 10-4 with the victory and will travel to Whiteville today (Friday) for a 6 p.m. game. Monday West Bladen will host North Brunswick at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the Dixie Pre-Majors League Tournament.
