Dixie Youth BaseballTABOR CITY – Scott Bowen pitched four scoreless innings as West Bladen beat South Columbus 7-1 on Wednesday in the completion of Tuesday’s suspended Dixie Pre-Majors tournament semifinal baseball game.

The game was halted Tuesday in the bottom of the fourth inning because of lightning and rain with the Knights leading 5-1.

The win puts West Bladen, 12-5, into the championship game at North Myrtle Beach. The game is scheduled Thursday at 6 p.m. North Myrtle Beach won the lone regular season meeting 1-0.

West Bladen’s two runs scored Wednesday came in the sixth inning. Jonathan Ashworth opened the frame with a double, moved to third on a ground out, and scored on Jarrett Williams’ squeeze bunt. Williams reached second on an error on the play, and scored on a double by Jeremy Hunt.

Trent West, Chandler Lennon, Ray Jones and Ashworth each had two hits to lead a 12-hit West Bladen offense. Donald McCullum, Hunt, Bowen and Williams each had one hit. West, Lennon, McCullum, Ashworth and Williams had doubles. Lennon drove in two runs while Hunt, West, McCullum, Jones and Williams each drove in a run. Ashworth scored twice while Seth Britt, Bowen, Lennon, McCullum and Williams each scored once.
