As folks are driving on US 701 North towards White Lake, they may soon have a new store to visit. Dollar General has erected a sign proclaiming the arrival of a new store in the vicinity of Merritt’s Pottery.
A spokeswoman with Par 3 Development Group of Aberdeen said on Tuesday morning that construction has begun and the company hopes to have the store ready to open in June. The plans call for a 9,100 square foot commercial building at the site.
The lot on which the store is locating was rezoned for commercial use a couple of years ago, according to Bladen County Manager Greg Martin. The business, G and E Golf Carts, for whom the original rezoning request was made, opted to utilize a different location.
