East Bladen Assistant Coach Dr. Ray Cross has been named the North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association 2022 Class 2A Boys Assistant Coach of the Year. Dr. Cross (pictured above on right) has served in a coaching capacity in the East Bladen soccer program since 2001.
‘Doc’ as he is known on the Eagle sidelines served as an assistant coach from 2001-2002 then again from 2010 until the present. From 2003-2009 he was the East Bladen head coach and won over 100 games in those 7 years while coaching his team to the playoffs in every one of those seasons.
“Doc has been instrumental in the growth and development of the program,” said current Eagle Coach Jay Raynor (pictured above on left). “He is currently coaching the boys’ jayvees as well as serving as an assistant for the varsity men’s and women’s programs.”
Dr. Cross was awarded the Girls Soccer Class 2A Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017. He has served as president of the the Bladen County Soccer Association and as president of the East Bladen Booster Club.
